One thing about weddings that are close to the holidays, a certain “feeling” of festive atmosphere, cheer and comfort surround everyone! I met Kayla a bit ago through some modeling sessions we did together, she’s beautiful inside and out and her adorable fiance from Finland, Immu…they match perfectly! I loved capturing their wedding day at the Bohemian, in Celebration Florida. Please take a look at my personal favorites below! Congrats again to these two, and I hope everyone had an amazing Holiday season….HAPPY NEW YEARS! 2014 is going to be spectacular!
Hey y’all! I am SO excited, dream come true for me! One of the lovely weddings I had the honor of covering is featured in the current The Knot Magazine Florida issue! Check it out on pages 84-88! Here’s a peek, I want to thank all the vendors involved who made this wedding sparkling of details, love and decor! If you would like to see the full wedding, click here. YAY! Happy dance!
Oh goody, I am so excited to share this shoot with you! Are you a succulent fan? Organic goodness? Well, below you will definitely find some eye candy! I had the chance to style and photograph this shoot and it was so very fun! I knew that this location would fit my inspiration + vision for the rustic setting and tablescape I wanted to bring to life. Lovely dishes with sweet accents by Dishie Rental, gorgeous flapjack succulents by Lee James that blew me away, and how can I forget the delicious local and fresh treats served by the American Bistro, Dally in the Alley. Please make sure to visit this amazing southern influenced cuisine located in Deland, as a foodie myself, you won’t be disappointed. The grouping of natural centerpieces, tying up the rustic yet simply unique wedding inspiration, the warmth of this makes my heart smile. Seriously, this dress? GORG!
I get so excited when new local shops open not only is it fun to explore a new local spot but it’s even better if it’s a friend of yours who bakes deliciously! Tara, owner and baker of P is for Pie has just opened the doors off of Corrine Drive in Orlando! I love the rustic interior and vintage accents. This amazing lil bake shop offers, mini pies, hand pies, whoopie pies, cookies, cobblers, pie pops plus you advance orders of whole pies! I made my early order already for Christmas! I’m a huge coffee lover, which brings me to the specialty coffee straight from Portland that is offered in house hot or cold! Please stop by, you won’t be disappointed! All the baked goodies are created at the shop and fresh to pick up!
What a year it has been! I can’t believe 2014 is just around the corner, I mean, this year literally flew by! I’m so thankful for what 2013 brought this year, I got to meet and work with some amazingly creative and talented folks, started and finalized some super exciting projects like “Am Sessions“, a video segment series for bridal advice ( can’t wait to debut these ) and last but not least, all the amazing couples I got to work with! I’m truly thankful and blessed for so much! I’m looking forward to 2014, it’s going to be a great year, I can feel it! Below are some fun behind the scene shots of some 2013 adventures!
I had a wonderful time capturing Brittney and Chris at their private location! The “country land” of Florida always soothes me, the trees, animals and open skies bring a sense of peace to mind. I look forward to capturing their big day next year!
East End Market is a neighborhood market and cultural food hub inspired by Central Florida’s local farmers and food artisans. I love the ambiance of a place just like this, reminds me of a shopping experience I’ve had out in the west-coast, which gives me a little taste of difference for the Orlando area. As I walked inside I was swooned by all the different shops! I stopped and ordered myself a delicious cold coffee Lineage, might have to push Starbucks aside for a while, my cup of joe was gone in seconds, all organic, all delicious. I’m a huge cheese freak, so Le Femme Du Fromage was a must, serving artisan cheeses! Yum! Olde Hearth Bread Company had a variety of fresh bread, I got my hot little hands on a French Baguette, ready for some olive oil dipping at home! Overall, this adorable shopping market filled with unique merchants is a must visit, I love it and I will sure be a regular here. Other awesome shops I discovered, Houndstooth (scrumptious butternut squash soup) and Porch Therapy, beautiful succulent plants, gardening goodies and more!
These two lovebirds were so sweet to capture! Josh and Shannon both got ready at the beautiful new Winter Park boutique hotel The Alfond Inn. This was my first time visiting as I believe it just opened it’s doors 3 months ago, and boy do I love the interior and exterior design! As the sun went down we moved over to the Winter Park Country Club for an evening ceremony with an intimate guest list of close friends and family. The Murdock wedding was unique in the sense that the couple used a lot of their favorite local vendors. One of my personal favorites moments, when the popular food truck here in Orlando called “The Yum Yum Truck” arrived! As guests walked quickly towards the truck as they parked, we all got a taste of the delicious min delights. Not only did we indulge, the bride and groom handed out their favorite flavors to their guest! SO sweet and YUM! Here are some of my favorite shots. Enjoy!
Hey Y’all! I’m super excited! I had to get my hot little hands on the brand new fresh copy of
Southern Weddings Magazine V6, eeep! This issue is completely filled with wedding goodness! I’m loving all the photo choices, inspirational words and gosh oh my, everything! I’m also jumping up and down a bit because I have a photo featured on page 18 for “35 Tips For a Wedding Full of Southern Hospitality“! You can find my image on the top left corner from Savannah’s southern beauty of a wedding, featuring AFR furniture and the lovely Blush by Brandee Gaar who planned it at The Lange Farm. If you are anything like me (clumsy at times), having your camera safely attached to something other than your hands can keep your mind at total ease. Luckily, the amazing team over at Joby sent me this awesome sling strap to try! As a photographer, neck straps can be a bit painful, not only that but heavy when dangling for hours at a time! I also find that the strap can sometimes block my lens while shooting over an object. The UltraFit Sling Strap is awesome because it’s designed for the female body! How so? It works with our curves! Safely resting comfortably around your waist and hip area.Without having to set down my camera every single time I have to fix hair on a model or bride, clothes or move/pick something up while shooting, I can just swing the camera back and continue when I’m ready! Making it effortless, spending less time worrying and more time capturing the perfect shot. My worst nightmare has always been that I’m going to drop my camera, the sling is extremely secure and easy to adjust according to your body shape. Not a lady? No worries, Joby offers this for men and other useful and comfortable camera gear. Take a look at their site and products. I highly recommend replacing your old strap with the UltraFit sling if you aren’t comfortable enough yet to go “naked” (without a strap at all). Go for it!
I had an amazing time capturing the Brown wedding! This adorable couple came all the way from Newfoundland! What was special about this wedding, were all the handmade decor. Jennifer not only traveled afar for their destination wedding here in Florida but also brought all the signs, decor and more all “DIY” by the bride! Jennifer and Jason celebrated their intimate setting at Paradise Cove with a 25 guest count of only the closest family and friends. With soft pastels, chic pops of lace and burlap, it made her Floridian wedding very special!
This beautiful day landed on my birthday! Yes, some might say “you worked on your birthday”?! But honestly, I love what I do and it’s a wedding…I love my brides! I had such a good time and my day was filled with so much love! Beautiful bride Leslie and her bridesmaids even sang “Happy Birthday” to me, it was SO sweet! I traveled to the west coast of Florida to St. Petersburg at the beautiful Vinoy resort. The two are now residing in Hawaii because Chris the groom is in the army, nice location, eh? Both Chris and Leslie are from Florida and had their closest friends and family attend, it was filled with big smiles, fun dancing and love all around. Enjoy!
I am so EXCITED! Here is the first installment of my video series that will contain bridal tips, interviews with your favorite vendors and more! I’ve been having such a fun time organizing, brainstorming and putting together topics that will help you with your big day! Head over to my YouTube page to see or watch below! I want to thank all the awesome wedding pros that helped me create this special video all about styled shoots!
Kaysea and Paul’s wedding was stunning! Bella Collina makes you feel like you have been swept away to a Tuscany paradise, this truly is as close as you can get to the romance of Italy without taking a super duper long flight but right here in Central Florida! All through out the wedding, I loved all of Kaysea’s chic accents with a southern twist, from mason jars, gorgeous floral by Lee James just poured perfectly throughout the ceremony and reception, cowgirl boots hidden under the bridesmaid’s dresses and the campfire outside where everyone roasted their very own S’mores! Yum! Make sure check out the gorgeous rainbow that appeared during the ceremony, so pretty! Enjoy some of my favorite moments captured below, best to the both of you and gosh, you made my day easy!
So a lot of my friends always ask me what I use on my skin, it’s really not much but I’m thankful that my mom gave me some good skin genes. With that being said, a girl still has to have her favorite beauty products and the list below are a sure not to miss. Whether you are working, running around, night out, I hope to at least have my makeup staying on pretty much all through out a wedding. Get these ladies, they for sure work!
1. Urban Decay All Nighter – This misty spray adds some serious staying power after you do yourself up for day or night, my cheek line literally stays in tact for hours after spraying this baby on my face! Living in Florida, humidity is constant! Featuring patented Temperature Control Technology, it actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush, and concealer in place. Score!
2. Stila One Step Correct – We all want flawless skin, wrinkles to vanish and discoloration to say buh-bye and this correcter does the trick. It neutralizes your skin, made for all tones as well. Brightens, color corrects and is anti-aging! I usually first apply my all day facial moisturizer by Olay, and then dab dots of this all over my face before makeup time!
3. Sephora 8 hr. Mattifying Foundation – Oil free and absolutely light weight, this mattifying powder foundation is perfect to hide your pores, take away that shine and leave you feeling flawless and natural. I apply this after the concealer and before the bronzer to cover any spots I might have forgotten earlier with my concealer.
4. MAC Studio Finish Concealer -I discovered this awesome concealer when visiting the MAC store in Chicago. I wanted a concealer that didn’t cake or too light to where I needed to re-apply constantly. I was sold, this covers it all, I only apply this under and around my eye area and voila!
5. Sonia Kashuk Brow Kit -I’m all about big brows, probably because I have no choice because I have big ones but nonetheless I love filling them out! The four creamy colors are perfect for blending your arch to a perfect shape, after applying I usually take a lil hair spray on a q-tip and dab on my brows to make sure they stay in place! It’s only $9.99 at Target!
6. Two Faced 16 hr Bronzer – One thing I love is being tan but what I don’t love is the sun damage, so why not fake it? As I’m getting older I want to take care of my skin even more, and baking in the sun is no bueno so this bronzer gives me the sun-kissed look without the damage! This product is vegan friendly too, pretty awesome.
7. Urban Decay Lipstick in Anarchy – I’m obsessed with bold/bright lips and it’s a classic trend that will never fade. When I don’t feel like messing with makeup, I stay natural but smack on some bold lipstick and feel alive! I love this creamy lipstick in Anarchy, it literally lasts for the longest time! Get it, you know you will love it!
I’m super excited to take Lindsey and Brett’s wedding photos next Spring at the beautiful Lange Farm! These two are so adorable and fun, I know it’s going to be a blast. I love all their smiles, so cute! Enjoy!
I met up with this adorable couple Jennifer and Jason all the way from Newfoundland! How awesome is that? They had the cutest accents and completely enjoyed the warmth of the weather here in Florida, compared to Newfoundland…where it’s brrr cold! I get to photograph their wedding this Monday! So excited! We had to do their engagement just a few days before they tied the knot! We walked around Winter Park, sipped some coffee, shared laughs and had a blast, enjoy!
I’m so thrilled to be sharing this styled shoot I got to capture! I had the idea of a total hippie inspired shoot a bit ago and had wanted to do it for a while now! I was so happy to hear the gals that I contacted were on board and ready to help create the vision! The organic and airy feel this era exudes, is exactly what I felt on location in adorable Tangerine, Florida. I found myself chasing natural light, sunbeams, peace signs and those groovy thoughts in the woods, not to mention… I listened to a lot of The Mama’s and the Papa’s while editing these. I’m a HUGE fan of the 60′s and 70′s, especially the music. I want to thank everyone who joined me on this, what a team! Also, there’s a delicious cocktail to make at home, please be sure to scroll at the bottom of this post to get the recipe!
1. Combine 4 cups water and sugar in a large saucepan; bring to boil. Cook until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Pour over tea bags. Cover and let stand 5 minutes; discard tea bags. Cool. Stir in juice, vodka, and Grand Marnier; chill.
2. Gently stir in ginger ale. Serve over ice. Garnish with cranberries and orange slices if desired.
